37th Annual Black Heritage Festival
A 37 year dream, an ongoing journey… Be sure to mark your calendars for the longest running Black Heritage Festival in the Southeast. This year’s Festival will be held at Longleaf Botanical Gardens. The first event of the day, beginning at 10:15 will be the Student Oration Competition, in which students from Pre-K to 12th grade recite words of poetry and prose by noted African American authors. Lunch can be purchased from Deano’s Grill on the front lawn from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. There will be indoor dining areas and outdoor picnicking, weather permitting. Beginning at 1:00 PM, the Anniston High School Jazz Band under the direction of Mr. R.D. Mitchell, will perform. Vendors will be available in the Lobby from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM selling items such as jewelry, books, clothing and arts and crafts.
