Anniston Water Works Adds Three Awards at Recent Conference

Anniston – The Anniston Water Works and Sewer Board has added three awards to its list of accomplishments over the most recent decade. The Board's Earl C. Knowlton Water Treatment Plant, the Paul B. Krebs Water Treatment Plant as well as Anniston's water distribution system were each recognized with awards at the 2018 Annual Alabama Water and Pollution Control Association (AWPCA) Conference held recently in Orange Beach, Alabama. The Knowlton Plant won "Best Operated Plant" for the State in its category for water plants having 5 million to 10 million gallons per day capacity. The plant won the same award in 2012. 
The Krebs Plant won an "Award of Excellence" in its category, for plants serving 50,000 to 100,000 population. The Distribution System "Award of Excellence" was earned in the category for systems serving between 15,000 and 25,000 metered connections. The Anniston Water Works has won dozens of awards in the last decade covering plant maintenance, plant operations and compliance as well as system operations. Those awards have come from AWPCA, American Water Works Association (AWWA), EPA and ADEM. Its most coveted award is that of "Best Tasting Water" earned from AWWA in 2015.
