RMC Acquisition of Stringfellow Memorial Hospital Finalized

ANNISTON, Ala. – April 28, 2017 – Regional Medical Center (RMC) has finalized the acquisition
of Anniston-based Stringfellow Memorial Hospital, including its associated physician clinics and
outpatient services, from subsidiaries of Tennessee-based Community Health Systems, Inc.
(CHS). The purchase price of $25 million includes RMC’s assumption of the approximately $13
million facility lease.
On Monday, May 1, 2017, RMC Stringfellow Memorial Hospital becomes part of RMC’s not-forprofit
family of providers, including RMC hospitals in Anniston and Jacksonville and numerous
outpatient facilities and physician offices. Both organizations have long and strong histories of
providing quality patient care each having operated in Anniston for more than 70 years.

Center (RMC) in Anniston, 104 inpatient beds at RMC Jacksonville and 125 acute care beds at
Stringfellow, numerous outpatient facilities and physician offices, the RMC Health System now
becomes the largest not-for-profit healthcare provider in Northeast Alabama.
With more than 2,200 employees, 300 volunteers and over 200 primary care and specialty
physicians, the expanded RMC Health System offers a full complement of service lines
including: Behavioral Health, Cancer, Cardiology, Emergency, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology,
Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Maternity/OB, Medical/Surgical, Neurology, Occupational RMC Acquisition of Stringfellow Memorial Hospital Finalized/add one
Health, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology/ENT, Primary Care, Pulmonology, Radiology,
Rehabilitation, Sleep Disorders, Substance Abuse/Addiction Recovery and Wound Care.

Joe Weaver, who currently serves as CEO of RMC Jacksonville and COO of RMC Health System,
will assume the position as CEO of RMC Stringfellow as of May 1. RMC Jacksonville will
continue to operate under the leadership of the RMC executive team until an interim CEO is
announced.
