Third Thursday in the Longleaf Botanical Gardens program: This program is presented by Hayes Jackson in the James P. Roberts Education Classroom of the Longleaf Botanical Gardens and will delve into all the native azalea species of the southeastern USA and the numerous hybrids available from area nurseries. Whether you are a beginner or a gardener that needs a brush up on available selections and cultivars, this program is for you! Growing native azaleas can be challenging. We will cover the basics and offer some methods to ensure a glorious show of blooms and healthy plants. We will feature some of the Alabama-bred Aromi hybrids that offer heat tolerance and vivid colors. Native azaleas are a must for any central Alabama landscape.
