Ribbon Cutting & Dedication for the Piedmont Solar Research Project
You're invited to join us for a ribbon-cutting as we celebrate the Grand Opening of the new solar-panel charging station in Piedmont.
"This ceremony will be held in the back parking lot of City Hall.
The Alabama Municipal Electric Authority (AMEA) has joined with the City of Piedmont, your public power utility, to construct a 24-kilowatt solar project in Piedmont, Alabama. The AMEA-City of Piedmont Solar Research Project is located in the West parking lot of 109 N. Center Avenue in Piedmont.
AMEA has worked with its other Member cities/utilities, including Alexander City, Dothan, Fairhope, LaFayette, Lanett, Luverne, Opelika, Riviera Utilities, Sylacauga and Tuskegee, to construct similar solar research projects in each of these communities. The total cost of all 11 projects is approximately $1 million.
Project Specifications
Size: 80 solar panels covering six parking spaces
Output: 24 kilowatts (kW)
Racking: Raised solar parking canopy facing West to optimize the capacity capabilities and energy production.
