What is inside of that Bee Hive?
Young Naturalists will assemble a hive and learn about the amazing activities that occur in each section. They will examine frames from an active colony to see the stored honey and developing larval bees. Don't be concerned; there will be no live bees flying around loose in the room! We will use a video to watch bees making honey, tending Queen Bee, and swarming. Mr. Jack Chapman, an experienced local Beekeeper will demonstrate the tools and techniques used for extracting honey. If time and weather permit we will observe (from a safe distance) the hive of resident bees that live and work at the Gardens. Class size is limited to the first 20 individuals who register. Suggested ages are 3rd grade and up. To reserve your spot, call Anniston Museum at 256-237-6766. Cost is $10.00 per person. Payment is due at time of reservation.
