CITY OF ANNISTON PRESS RELEASE - APRIL 30, 2020 - 6:15 PM

Anniston city leadership urges all of its citizens to continue social distancing practices, and to adhere to the health and safety guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Control, the Alabama Department of Public Health, as well as the Alabama State Health Officer’s 'Safer at Home' order, which is effective from 04/30/20 at 5:00pm until 05/15/20 at 5:00pm (Link: https://bit.ly/2VLy0ED). Furthermore, be it known that in an effort to adhere our community to the safest practices recommended by both the CDC and the Alabama Dept. of Public Health, the City of Anniston will execute the following precautionary measures for the health and safety of our residents:

EXTENSION OF TEMPORARY CLOSURES

The following City of Anniston facilities will remain temporarily closed to the public until 5/15/20 at 5:00pm, at
which time their closure will be reevaluated: Carver Community Center, Norwood Hodges Community Center,
South Highland Community Center, Wiggins Community Center, Anniston Aquatic & Fitness Center, the
Senior Citizen & Therapeutic Recreation Center, and the Anniston City Meeting Center. However, all of these
facilities will be staffed from 8:00am until 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, and may be contacted via phone during the hours of operation listed above. Please note, these temporary closures may be adjusted in the event a new state health order is issued prior to 05/15/20 at 5:00pm.

The Anniston Museum and Gardens will remain temporarily closed to the public until 5/15/20 at 5:00pm, at which time its closure will be reevaluated. Please note, this temporary closure may be adjusted in the event a new state health order is issued prior to 05/15/20 at 5:00pm.

The Anniston Multimodal Station (Amtrak Station, Greyhound Station, Trolley Station) located at 126 West 4th
Street, Anniston, AL 36201, will maintain its altered hours of operation, until 05/15/20 at 5:00pm. Said hours of
operation are as follows: Monday - Friday: 8:00AM until 7:00PM, Saturday: 9:00AM until 3:00PM, and Sunday:
Closed. Until the station's 05/15/20 reevaluation, an emergency phone line will be made available: 256-310-7723. Please note, these altered hours of operation may be adjusted in the event a new state health order is issued prior to 05/15/20 at 5:00pm.

PARTIAL REOPENING OF CITY HALL & PUBLIC PARKS/TRAILS

Anniston City Hall will reopen to the public, effective Monday (05/04/20) at 8:00am, as so citizens may come to pay their bills in person. Proper social distancing guidelines will be enforced, and city staff will ensure this facility is routinely disinfected and sanitized.

All City of Anniston public parks will be made accessible, effective Monday (05/04/20) at 8:00am; however, all
playground equipment on city parks, and other recreational structures such as basketball courts, will remain
off limits to the public until 5/15/20 at 5:00pm, at which time said limitations will be reevaluated. Groups that visit city parks must be no larger than 10 people and all individuals must maintain an appropriate 6 foot distance from one another at all times.

The City of Anniston’s municipal golf courses (Cane Creek Golf Course and The Hill Golf Course) will be open to the public from 8:00am until 8:00pm, Sunday through Saturday. Groups that visit these golf courses must be no larger than 10 people, and all individuals must maintain an appropriate 6 foot distance from one another at all times.

The walking trails at the Anniston Museum and Gardens will be made accessible to the public, effective Monday (05/04/20) at 8:00am. Groups that visit these walking trails must be no larger than 10 people, and all individuals must maintain an appropriate 6 foot distance from one another at all times.
